A winery from Langhorne Creek is now part of the AFL, as Bleasdale Vineyards is now the Official Wine Partner of the Melbourne Football Club for the 2021 and 2022 AFL seasons.
This new partnership will see Bleasdale's range of wines from Langhorne Creek and the Adelaide Hills promoted to the club's members and supporters all over Australia.
Bleasdale Brand Ambassador and fifth-generation Potts family member Robbie Potts said the new association had an element of fate about it.
"Both Bleasdale and the Melbourne Football Club are steeped in history and both were pioneers in their fields.
"While my great, great grandfather Frank Potts was planting Langhorne Creek's first vines in the 1850s, the Melbourne Football Club was busy establishing itself as the first footy team and helping to write the rules of the game," Robbie said.
This isn't Bleasdale's first foray into the world of the AFL either, having also supplied the commemorative Port for some of the League's Brownlow Medal counts during the 1990s.
Melbourne Football Club Chief Of Commercial George de Crespigny said the Melbourne Football Club welcomed Bleasdale Wines as their official wine partner for the next two years & beyond.
"We see a great synergy with the brands, both are iconic in their own right with Melbourne established in 1858 and Bleasdale 1850," Mr de Crespigny said.
"We are excited to have an award winning winery that will extend across our premium events/functions and be enjoyed by our members and supporters for years to come."
