Funding available for SA regional artists

Two South Australian regional artists will be given the opportunity to receive $10,000 in funding to help them create work while learning to use the digital space as a source of promotion, inspiration and creation.

SA Power Networks will provide the grants as part of the Country SA 'Cartharsis' initiative.

SAPN chief Executive officer Rob Stobbe said art was a medium which could be adapted because of certain situations, and it has never been more apparent than now as the world deals with a pandemic crisis.

"...Creative practitioners have embraced the digital world to engage with audiences," Mr Stobbe said.

"That's particularly relevant for regional and remote audiences, so SA Power Networks is excited to support the development of digital art in our regional communities through the Catharsis program."

The successful artists will work with Adelaide-based digital art and technology innovators Sandpit as well as a number of experts who deal with smart technology, engineering and gaming.

Country Arts SA chief executive Anthony Peluso said the organisation's partnership with SAPN had been going for more than 23 years, giving regional artists opportunities to expand and create artistic experiences.

Expressions of interest for the funding close on August 24.
