Breaking Ground award deadline extended

Breaking Ground award deadline extended

The applications for the Country Arts SA Breaking Ground award exhibition in 2021 has been extended, with artists able to apply until June 30.

Since 2012, the Breaking Ground award has provided South Australian visual artists with the opportunity to develop their skills and broaden their professional experience.

Country Arts SA visual arts program manager Lauren Mustillo said the change to the application deadline was made together with SALA Festival.

"The Breaking Ground award gives a visual artist from regional SA the opportunity and financial support to dream big, learn from a mentor and channel their energy into a creative practice.

"Opportunities like this are important now more than ever.

"While there will be not physical SALA awards night this year, we're excited by the opportunity to announce the winner in a new and innovative way."

The winning artist' will have their works exhibited at Light Square Gallery during the 2021 SALA Festival.

Applications close June 30, at midnight. The artist must be a permanent resident of regional South Australia.
