Cedrent Vehicle Hire has acquired the franchise rights to Enterprise Rent a Car, making it one of the few majority Aboriginal-owned vehicle hire company's in Australia.

The company, formerly Ceduna Rent a Car, is majority-owned by Munda Wana Wilurarra, a Ceduna-operated subsidiary company of Far West Coast Investments, and the deal will see the business expand operations throughout South Australia and Northern Territory.

The Cedrent fleet, which includes commercial vehicles and four-wheel-drives, will be injected into the new Enterprise brand, creating a more rounded offering of vehicles.

Far West Coast Investments director Robert Larking said he was excited about the deal.

"This is a future investment opportunity for the Far West Coast community, with profits going back to support our people," he said.

"There's also opportunities for employment and it will increase local operations."

The company now has established locations in Ceduna, Adelaide, Port Augusta, Coober Pedy, Darwin and Alice Springs, with pending locations in Port Lincoln and Whyalla.
