Lucky escape for police officer

A police officer has had a close call after a fold-up table fell off a car on Eyre Highway near Bookabie on Thursday.
A police officer was driving on the highway at about 1.50pm when the table fell off the roof of a car travelling in the opposite direction.
The table - which had only been tied down using elastic straps - hit the police car's windscreen, causing it to smash.
The officer driving the vehicle was not seriously injured, but suffered minor cuts as a result of the incident.
A 22-year-old French tourist was fined $295 for having an unsecure load on his vehicle.
Police wish to remind people to use legal weight-rated tie-down straps when loading luggage and equipment on to roof racks and trailers, and to make sure any load that is being transported is secured properly to the vehicle or trailer.
