Lock and Elliston students compete in swimming carnival

Lock Area School students were joined by those from Elliston Area School for the Lock Area School swimming carnival earlier this month.

The carnival took place on Friday, February 7, with Elliston students and staff again making the trip to Lock to join in the fun in the pool.

It was a warm day which meant all students were eager to take to the water for a number of swimming races and novelty events.

It proved to be a close competition all day, with the Red team taking the win by 14 points, finishing on 454 points to Blue's 440.

There were also place winners in different divisions, with four Lock students tied for first place in the under 10/12 girls division.

Anabell Bowey, Sophie Morton, Kate Zacher and Georgia Kay all finished on 21 points.

The under 10/12 boys winner was Lock's Hunter Kay, finishing a point ahead of Jarrah Donovan from Elliston.

Winning in the under 14/open girls division was Taja Pryer on 30 points, finishing ahead of fellow Elliston student Indi Donovan on 23 points.

The under 14/open boys division was taken out by Caleb Hancock of Lock on 27 points, while Elliston's Jacob Newton was second on 24 points.
