Mandy Nicholls and Chris Gascoyne have earned the honour of representing the Ceduna Bowling Club at next month's Freeman Shield.

Six pairs of ladies played four games of 10 ends recently in good bowling conditions, with the winning pair heading for the shield.

At the lunch break two games had been completed and just two teams remained undefeated, who were to face off in the next round.

Nicholls and Gascoyne jumped out to an early lead on their opponents Eileen Fitzgerald and Deb Richter, and they kept the pressure on with good bowling to go ahead and win the encounter.

Both teams were victorious in the last game of the day.

With four wins to their name, Nicholls and Gascoyne earned the right to represent the club at the Wudinna Bowls Club on Monday, March 16.

They will compete against women from clubs throughout the Western Eyre region, all gunning for the Freeman Shield.

Finishing the runners-up on the day with three wins were Fitzgerald and Richter.
