The Wudinna Meat Store has earned back-to-back awards after claiming victory at the 2019 South Australian Sausage King Competition.
The store took the gold in the Best Butchers Beef Burger category for its beef and onion burger, repeating the success of 12 months ago.
The competition is designed to promote local butchers, promote sausages and increase consumer knowledge of sausage varieties, taste, composition and recipe ideas.
Wudinna Meat Store joined fellow Eyre Peninsula winners from Cowell and Kimba, and butcher Zane Petty said it was exciting for the business.
He said the use of local product was rewarded.
"It's pretty satisfying to win the award two years in a row," he said.
"We use all local beef in our burgers, we source good local product that is fresh, paddock to plate, and that pays off.
"It shows we can compete against the big guys, as there are businesses a lot bigger than myself."
Mr Petty said they would like to continue their success in the competition, and were hoping the traditional beef sausage - which has been in the top three for the past five years - could get the gold in the 2020 edition.
A total of 146 entries from across the state in eight categories were received, with the state winners invited to enter their products in the National Sausage King titles in New South Wales early next year.
