West Coast loses for the first time in 2019 as Central Eyre secures double chance

Wudinna United has inflicted a first Mid West A grade football defeat on West Coast by 23 points on Saturday.

The Hawks have dominated throughout the season to win all prior 13 matches, however were kept goalless in two quarters in a 14-6 (90) to 10-7 (67) result.

Neil Seaman and Bradley Lymn led the way in front of goal for the Magpies with three majors and were matched by West Coast's Cameron Montgomerie.

Wudinna raced away to a 22-point advantage at the first break after kicking four goals to three behinds and increased the margin to 26 by half-time.

The Hawks hit back with a fine third-term display, kicking six goals to two to level the match heading into the final term.

The league leaders have been dominant in fourth quarters this year yet could not get going on this occasion as Wudinna kicked three goals to no score to record a fine win.

Elsewhere, Clint Winter starred as Central Eyre secured second spot and a double chance in the finals after beating Wirrulla by 65 points.

A big second quarter helped the Bulldogs to a 15-6 (96) to 4-7 (31) result, maintaining the three-point gap to Western Districts and Wudinna with one match remaining.

Winter booted seven goals in the win, while teammate Jordan Stutley and Wirrulla player Simon Webb kicked three.

The Bulldogs' 11-point lead at the first break increased to 46 at half-time following a fine display in which they kicked seven goals to one.

Despite Wirrulla having the better of the third term with three goals to one, Central Eyre finished well to grab an important victory.

Western Districts cruised to a 20-12 (132) to 3-1 (19) win against Elliston.

The Tigers were in command from the opening siren and went on to win by 113 points.

The hosts kicked five first-quarter goals to lead by 26 points at the break and the lead continued to grow, with Districts ahead by 42 at half-time.

Western Districts kicked six goals to one in the third term and finished with another impressive display and seven majors.

Andrew Miller led with five goals for the Tigers, while teammate Damon King-O'Loughlin booted four.

In the B grade, West Coast got the better of Wudinna United by 24 points.

The Hawks had the better of proceedings throughout the four quarters to win 6-11 (47) to 3-5 (23).

Jay Johns and Darren Brown kicked two goals apiece for West Coast.

The Hawks led by 23 points at the final break and neither side could grab a goal in the fourth quarter.

A dominant Wirrulla downed Central Eyre 14-11 (95) to 4-9 (33).

Craig Johnson booted four goals as the Bombers won by 62 points.

Central Eyre failed to kick a goal until the final quarter, by which time they trailed by more than 80 points.

Before that, Wirrulla opened the contest with four first-quarter goals and then added five in the second term and another four in the third quarter.

Western Districts defeated Elliston via a forfeit.
