Ceduna residents on the cashless debit card will soon have another method to exit the program.
The Department of Social Services (DSS) said from July 1 cardholders who are able to demonstrate reasonable and responsible management of their financial affairs could exit the program.
A DSS spokesperson said each application would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Trial participants can still apply for an exemption from the card for mental, physical or emotional wellbeing reasons.
Application forms outlining how to apply will be available from July 1 at www.dss.gov.au/cashlessdebitcard.
Participants requiring further assistance can contact the free cashless debit card hotline on 1800 252 604.
The card, which was first introduced in Ceduna in 2016 on a trial basis, quarantines 80 per cent of a participant's welfare payments.
