Ceduna and Streaky Bay have been included as part of the Melbourne Cup trophy tour ahead of this year's race.

The Victoria Racing Club announced the tour destinations on Tuesday, with the two West Coast towns joining 37 other towns and cities across the globe that will be part of the trophy tour.

Three-time Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy and his wife Cathy will join the trophy during its Streaky Bay visit on August 5 and 6, while the trophy will visit Ceduna as part of Oysterfest on October 5 and 6.

They are the only regional South Australian stops on the trophy tour.

Ceduna District Council tourism and events officer Lynette Croft said being part of the tour would be an unforgettable experience.

"Ceduna has a rich racing history and each year the township comes to a standstill on the first Tuesday in November," she said.

"We can't wait to welcome the $200,000 Lexus Melbourne Cup to town during our Oysterfest celebrations and celebrate with the community."
