The Kevin to Thevenard gypsum rail service is facing another recovery operation after two carriages were derailed at Thevenard on Tuesday.
Only six carriages made it over the Bergmann Drive crossing before the next carriage became derailed and caused another to also become dislodged from the track.
A spokesperson for Genesee and Wyoming Australia (GWA), which operates the line, said recovery work had already started.
"GWA confirms that a minor derailment of a gypsum train occurred in the balloon loop near Ceduna on Tuesday, 11 June, 2019.
"Recovery operations have commenced, and the track will re-open shortly."
