This week we go back 30 years to see faces who made the pages of the June 7, 1989 edition of the West Coast Sentinel.

Big stories from this edition of the West Coast Sentinel included work continuing on a new Ceduna to Thevenard heavy duty truck route with the first stage opened on May 25, 1989.

Streaky Bay won two Eyre Peninsula tourism awards, Streaky Bay District Council works supervisor Peter Irvine winning 'most significant individual effort' and Streaky Bay Tourist Promotions Incorporated won 'most significant promotional effort'.

In sport, Thevenard continued its unbeaten run in Far West football by defeating Blues by 55 points, while in Mid West football Central Eyre defeated Streaky Bay by 39 points.
