Habel wins stroke event in Streaky Bay

Fifteen competitors took part in the Yoko Refrigeration Stroke event this weekend in very good conditions, with the number of strokes, stableford points and putts being counted.

The course was soft underneath and scrapes concrete hard and fast after 45mm of welcome rain fell on Saturday and a solid northwesterly provided a challenge.

In divison one Jason Habel withstood the pressure and carded 77 strokes for 75 nett, with 34 points and 24 putts to round off a great day, hopes ride with him and Brenton Huntley to again dominate the Sanvik Open at Roxby Downs this weekend. Close runner up was Lachlan Redden with 78 strokes, 75 nett, 32 points and 27 putts. Lyall Mann won division two with 101 strokes, 78 points and 35 putts, runner up was Andy McLeod with 104 strokes, 82 nett with 31 putts.

The juniors enjoyed gentle morning conditions with the younger ones progressing through stroke development whilst older players had a six-hole competition. Results: Kyle Feltus 38, Jack Kelsh 47, Josh Roberts 49, Taylor Kenny 49, Kobi Capurso 51.

Next week two SA Golf coaches will run free coaching clinics from 9am for junior and adult community members from the golf club.
