Bascombe Well Conservation Park burn planned

The Department of Environment and Water has planned a prescribed burn for Bascombe Well Conservation Park on Friday, should weather permit.

The department will plan to burn 300 hectares of land, located about 10 kilometres southwest of Lock, starting from 10am to be complete by 9pm.

The objective is to burn off fuel loads in the area and reduce the risk of a serious bushfire in the area.

The prescribed burn will only take place when conditions are deemed safe to do so and can be cancelled at short notice.

Department crews will remain on site until it is deemed safe to leave.

The deparment has warned local residents that a significant smoke column will be produced during this burn which is normal for burns of this size.

Bascombe Well track within the conservation park will be closed to the public during the prescribed burn and there will also be no public access to the fire area during the burn.

Up to date information on prescribed burns is available on the department's twitter page and a list of prescribed burns can be found on the department's website.
