Holiday surf a hit with participants

Perfect conditions greeted surfers for the Sceale Bay Surf School's recent school holiday program.

Youngsters involved in Streaky Bay's Youth Week and members of the Ceduna Youth Hub made the trip to to ride the waves and improve their surfing skills under the watchful gaze of former professional surfers Mick Campbell and Tahlija Redgard.

They were able to surf with the children and pass on their surfing knowledge, skills and ocean awareness.

Ceduna Youth Hub's Peter Jericho said it was another great trip for the participants.

"We had a great time with Andy [Joy] and the crew," he said.

"We had world class surfers who were great and a positive influence on the kids.

"It was good for them to get out on the water, we had a few first-timers like Spencer Benbolt who was having a great time riding the waves."

The school has been running Surf for Life programs with the Ceduna Youth Hub, funded by Surfing Australia, and is also working to encourage the region's youth to embrace surfing with positive directions for life.

Mr Joy and his team will continue to run school camps surfing and swimming with sea lions at Bair Bay Eco Tours, as well as Surf Groms programs at Sceale Bay and Ceduna where they are working with special school surfing.

Other programs include Surf for Life with the youth hub, plus providing surfing experience for the Nullarbor Traveller Tours and lessons for locals and tourists.
