Premiers overcome the Hawks

West Coast suffered a first Mid West netball A grade defeat of the season after falling by four goals to Western Districts on Saturday.

The match at Piednippie saw the reigning premiers aiming to build on round two's maiden win of the campaign and the Hawks seeking to return to the winners list after a draw with Wirrulla.

It was yet another close match, which has characterised the opening rounds of the A grade season, as the Tigers just got in front and held on for a 44-40 victory.

Elsewhere, Wirrulla was also downed for the first time this term following a 38-32 loss to Elliston.

Defeated by eight goals a week earlier, the Roosters hit back as they got the better of the Bombers in a tense contest.

It was a first win of the season for Wudinna United, who got off the mark away to Central Eyre by 13 goals.

The Magpies had been second best in their two defeats yet looked the goods in this clash with a 56-43 result that ensures all teams are on the board after three rounds.

West Coast tops the B grade table after a third straight win, defeating Western Districts by 13 goals.

The 55-42 result also made it back-to-back losses for the Tigers.

The Hawks are joined on six points by Wudinna United after its win over Central Eyre.

Both teams had joy under the ring, but the Magpies were able to make more of their chances count in a nine-goal win as it ended 46-37.

Meanwhile, Elliston is off the mark after defeating Wirrulla 43-23.

West Coast had too much for Western Districts in the C grade to win by 18 goals.

The Hawks made it three wins from three with a 50-32 victory.

Wudinna United is right there with them on six points after a success against Central Eyre.

The Magpies got over the line by 13 goals as the match ended 40-27.

It was closer in the other match as Elliston got the better of Wirrulla just only three goals, with a final score of 33-30.

That result meant a first win of the season for the Roosters.

West Coast and Wudinna United enjoyed big D grade triumphs against Western Districts and Central Eyre respectively.

The Hawks cruised to a 67-12 victory, while the Magpies won 37-12.

Wirrulla defeated Elliston via a forfeit.

In the Junior A there were wins for West Coast - who downed Western Districts 49-24 - and Wudinna, who enjoyed a 19-goal win as the match against Central Eyre ended 53-34.

Meanwhile, in the Junior B Central Eyre and Elliston secured big wins against Wudinna and Wirrulla, however it was much closer between West Coast and Western Districts.

The Hawks came away with a one-goal win as it ended 28-27.
