The Far West Pony Club recently signed up to join the Good Sports program, which is run by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation.
The Good Sports program has been helping community sporting clubs to control the use of alcohol and drugs, and to promote healthy behaviours – such as healthy eating and smoke-free environments – for nearly two decades.
The program gives Good Sports clubs assistance with recruiting new members; making the club more visible; increasing the revenue stream; and in having engaged, healthy members.
To be part of this program, the Far West Pony Club have implemented Good Sports’ smoke free policy and safe transport policy.
Both of these policies are closely assigned with the Pony Club Association of SA policies.
A further benefit to joining was the chance to win $500, which the club was last month very surprised to hear it had won.
The club said it would like to thank Good Sports and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation for the chance to be involved in the program, and for the prize money.
Club officials said they encouraged other local sporting clubs to look into becoming part of the Good Sports program and see what it had to offer.
