Streaky Bay’s Norrie and Jim Clarke recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

A small group of family and friends gathered at the home of bridesmaid Alice Montgomerie for the occasion.

Norrie’s cousin Heather Scantlebury said it was a special occasion.

“It was a good day, everybody enjoyed themselves,” she said.

“Norrie has been experiencing some memory loss of late, but she was on fire that day!”

Norrie, the daughter of Bert and Lil Montgomerie of Benbutter, Streaky Bay, married Jim, the son of James and Ivy Clarke of Caratanabie at Streaky Bay.

The couple were married on January 15, 1947 at Saint Canute’s Catholic Church at Streaky Bay, at 9am.

Following the ceremony a breakfast was hosted at the Benbutter property, while in the evening a large crowd of family and friends enjoyed a dance and supper at the Piednippie Hall.

The bridesmaids were Alice Clarke, Mary Kenny and Coral Clarke, while Josie Fitzgerald was the flower girl.

Bill Kenny, Frank Montgomerie, Colin Montgomerie were the groomsmen.
