Registrations for Vacswim SA programs to take place in January will close later this month.
Programs will be hosted at the Smoky Bay beach and Point Sinclair/Penong beach, as well as at Kimba Area School and Lock and Districts Swimming Pool, from January 2 to 10, with program registrations closing on Wednesday, December 19.
Vacswim is designed to increase a child’s confidence in and around water, as well as learning personal survival activities and basic emergency procedures.
All programs meet the National Water Safety Education Competency Framework and are conducted by 600 qualified instructors.
Program manager Amanda Burnett explained that Vacswim should not be confused with traditional learn to swim programs.
“Ideally Vacswim should be viewed as a complimentary addition to equally as important swimming lessons,” she said.
“It’s about empowering children with the knowledge to make smart aquatic decisions and what to do when and if they find themselves or a friend in trouble.
“The best way to enjoy Vacswim is with a mate – no matter what age, children will enjoy partner work with a friend and they’ll be able to share the memorable Vacswim experiences for years to come.”
