Race for Ceduna mayor goes down to the wire

Council election vote counting is underway for councils across the state, with a provisional declaration made in the race for Ceduna mayor, as well as in the Streaky Bay District Council.

The Electoral Commission of South Australia made a provisional declaration for Ceduna District Council mayor, with Perry Will provisionally elected as the new mayor.

Mr Will polled 525 first preference votes ahead of Ken Maynard on 520 votes.

The provisional declaration was made at 1.03pm.

The provisional declaration was made for the four positions in Streaky Bay’s Flinders Ward, with Travis Barber polling the most first preference votes on 258.

Provisionally elected as Streaky Bay councillors for the Flinders Ward are: Travis Barber, Lauren Karp, newcomer Clifford Pudney and Peter Hackett.

The provisional declaration was made at 11:52am.

The Eyre Ward’s provisional declaration was announced on Monday, with Graham Gunn receiving the most first preference votes on 153.

Mr Gunn has been elected to the council alongside Philip Wheaton, Neville Trezona and newcomer Trudy McGowan.

The Elliston District Council’s first preference votes have been received, however a provisional declaration has not been made.

Kerry Williams has received the most votes.
