The ‘Teddy Bear picnic’ hosted at the Ceduna foreshore proved to be a success, with more than 50 children enjoying an afternoon of fun and games on Thursday.
Organised by Centacare and Aboriginal Family Support Services (AFSS) to celebrate Foster and Kinship Care Week 2018, the picnic was designed to recognise the efforts of foster and kinship carers in the region, plus raise awareness of the need for more local foster carers.
Children of all ages were present for the picnic, where they were able to adopt a teddy bear to care for, or take part in a number of activities including arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt which took them along the foreshore, story time and a photo booth.
Others found a spot in the shade on the sunny day and enjoyed a bear snack.
Katharine Micka from AFSS said the day went well and they were pleased with the level of support it received from the community.
