The Heysen Comets, with Streaky Bay’s Damon Edmunds, are top of the SA Super League following two weekend wins.
The Comets faced Mallee Pirates in round five and after a tight singles win, Edmunds and Cleve’s Ben Harris were tasked with pairs’ duties.
The Eyre Peninsula duo raced to an early lead before the Pirates found their range.
The fast start proved the difference as Edmunds and Harris claimed a 20-12 victory, and with victory in the triples the Comets secured an overall 57-41 success to move up into first position.
Following that success the Comets faced off against the Central Chargers in round six yet the match started poorly as they lost the singles.
After a crucial comeback in the doubles, Edmunds, Harris and James Gregory were together for the triples.
The Comets enjoyed an early lead, before a super end on the 15th end saw them increase the margin to 21-9.
The Chargers were valiant, however the Comets trio closed out with two fours in a row to take a 29-12 result for an overall 62-52 victory.
