Shock Ceduna win sets the stage for grand final showdown against Thevenard

Ceduna will meet Thevenard in the Far West netball grand final after overcoming Western United by 19 goals in Saturday’s preliminary final.

The 42-23 result was a shock given previous matches between the pair this season saw Westies win all four encounters.

Yet the Blues got it done when it counted the most as Hayley Zippel was their best on court, while Hailee Skinner played well for Western United.

Ceduna will also have to overcome a losing record against the Magpies to secure the title this Saturday.

Western United defeated Ceduna 2 by 13 goals to reach the B grade grand final.

The Tigers were led by Bron Workman as they secured a 52-39 victory.

Nikia Skinner was Ceduna’s best player.

Western United will be out to avenge their two-goal defeat against Thevenard from earlier in the finals series when the teams meet in the decider.

Thevenard advanced to the C grade grand final with a six-goal triumph over Ceduna 2.

The Magpies were defeated by four goals a week earlier to drop into the preliminary final, but recovered to win 38-32.

Molly Inglis led by example for Thevenard and Amy Norsworthy played her part for Ceduna.

Thevenard will face Western United this Saturday.

The all-Western United showdown in the D grade went the way of Western United 2 as it finished 39-34.

Gretel Anderson was Western United 2’s best player, while Java Shipard played well for Westies 1.

After finishing only percentage behind Thevenard, Westies 2 will have the chance to go one better in the grand final this weekend.

Western United defeated Koonibba in the Junior A match by eight goals.

Liefja Branford was Westies’ best performer as they won 35-27, with Aleria Sansbury-Smith playing well for the Roosters.

The Tigers will meet Thevenard.

Thevenard were too good for Ceduna in the Junior B preliminary final as they won by 48 goals.

Shelby Murphy starred for Thevenard, while Ceduna’s Lara Skinner did her best.

That result sets up a Thevenard versus Western United grand final.

Thevenard will face Koonibba in the Junior C grand final after getting the better of Western United 26-17.

Zoe McGuinness followed her player of the year award with a best on court performance, while best and fairest runner-up Zara Harding led the way for Westies.
