The Mid West football finals participants have been confirmed following Wirrulla’s nine-point success over Western Districts on Saturday.
The Tigers needed to win to maintain their slim chance of finishing in the top four only to fall to a 10-13 (73) to 10-4 (64) loss as Wirrulla kept ahead in a tight match.
There were only two points in it at quarter-time as both teams kicked two goals, while three goals to two in the second term saw the Bombers increase the margin at half-time to six points.
Districts hit back as they put away three goals to Wirrulla’s two in the third quarter which meant the teams were separated by only four points ahead of the final term.
Eight scoring shots to three saw Wirrulla have the better of the fourth quarter yet there remained little between the teams as they kicked three goals apiece.
Rowan Chester and Robert Marshall led with three goals each for Wirrulla, while Steven Brands, Charlie Williams and Damon King-O’Loughlin grabbed two for the Tigers.
Leaders West Coast annihilated Central Eyre by a massive 233 points.
It was never a contest as the Hawks smashed 35-26 (236) to 0-3 (3) in an awesome display to bounce back from their first defeat a week prior.

They kicked nine goals to one behind in the opening term and a further six goals to two Bulldogs’ behinds in the second quarter.
