Redden triumphs after play-off

Lachlan Redden emerged victorious from a thrilling Wirrulla Golf Open earlier this month.

Twenty-five players from Wirrulla, Poochera, Ceduna and Streaky Bay came together for the contest hosted by the Wirrulla Golf Club.

Redden took victory in the A grade at the second play-off hole after a score of 78, getting the better of Jamie Davies.

The B grade win went to Wayne Daniel thanks to a score of 79, ahead of Ty Redden on 81.

Winning the C grade competition in a close finish was Gareth Tomney following a round of 88, just clear of Mick Stewart with 89.

Les Hamence took out the handicap prize for the A grade with a score of 67, ahead of Davies on 70.

Daniel secured a handicap victory in the B grade with his score of 63 to finish two strokes ahead of Redden on 65, while Tomney also took out the C grade with 66 as Stewart hit a 67 handicap score.

The top team on the day went to Redden, Daniel, Harry Verstappen and Dion Gilmore.

Nearest to the pin on the third hole was Daniel, while Gavin Haynes was the nearest on both the fifth hole and the ninth.

Hamence took out the veterans prize.

The Wirrulla Golf Club said it would also like to extend an invitation to all players to join them every Sunday at the Wirrulla course for a nine-hole competition from 1pm.
