Elliston have inflicted a first Mid West football defeat on West Coast with a stunning one-point success on Saturday.
The lead and momentum swung throughout the contest, only for the Roosters to edge a 14-16 (100) to 15-9 (99) victory.
The Roosters got the jump in this top-of-the-table showdown to enjoy a 10-point lead at quarter-time.
Elliston then kicked four goals to two in the second term to lead by 18 points.
West Coast were able to regroup and came out swinging with six goals to two to lead by three points at three-quarter time.
That set the stage for a dramatic final quarter which was shaded by Elliston with three goals to two, to take a superb victory.
Andrew McLeod and Brody Kenny kicked two goals each for the Roosters, while Cody Colbung led with seven for the Hawks.
The result brings Elliston to within six points of West Coast.
Simon Webb booted seven goals as Wirrulla cruised to a 21-13 (139) to 8-4 (52) victory versus Wudinna.
The path to victory was established in the first quarter as Wirrulla raced to a 41-point lead, eventually winning by 87.
Wirrulla kept the visitors scoreless in the opening term, although the Magpies did reduce the gap to 25 points with five goals to three in the second quarter.
Yet another scoreless quarter ended their charge as the Bombers kicked clear with eight goals, before adding four more in the final term.
Webb was aided by three goals apiece from Robert Marshall and Darryl Dudley, while Wudinna’s Lachlan Kerr responded with two goals.
A stunning fourth quarter gave Central Eyre a fine comeback win against Western Districts by 48 points.
The Bulldogs trailed at the end of the opening three quarters only to smash Districts in the final term to win 16-16 (112) to 9-10 (64).
It was looking good for Districts in the opening stages as they took a 17-point lead into quarter-time and led by 11 at the main break.
The Tigers added one goal to Central Eyre’s two in a tight third quarter which ended with a seven-point gap.
Central Eyre then tore clear in the final quarter as Western Districts were kept scoreless and the visitors piled on eight goals in a dominant display to claim victory.
Tyler Chapman kicked five goals and Jared Sampson added four for the Bulldogs, while Damon King-O’Loughlin led with five for Districts.
It was even closer between West Coast and Elliston in the B grade as the teams drew 7-10 (52) to 7-10 (52).
Elliston trailed by 13 points at three-quarter time before a big final quarter saw the teams share the points.
Central Eyre overturned a 10-point third term deficit to defeat Western Districts 9-16 (70) to 6-6 (42), while Wirrulla defeated Wudinna via forfeit.
