A Wudinna SA Ambulance Service volunteer was recognised for a quarter of a century of service recently.

During National Volunteer Week between May 21 and 27 SA Ambulance celebrated its volunteer workforce and awards were presented to many people for their service.

Wudinna volunteer John Simpson was among 10 volunteers across the state to receive recognition for 25 years of service.

SA Ambulance chief executive officer Jason Killens said volunteers such as Mr Simpson were invaluable and made up almost 50 per cent of the service’s workforce.

“Our dedicated volunteers make it possible for SAAS to provide communities across our state with the services required to help those in need,” he said.

In South Australia there are more than 1560 volunteers working with the service, in operational and administration roles, and range in age from 17 to 90.
