The week also saw an unannounced visit from Governor-General Bill Hayden to the West Coast, the fifth annual Women’s Health Day at Streaky Bay Golf Club being a success and Keith Johnson being elected chairman of Streaky Bay District Council.

In sport 21 golfers from 12 clubs travelled to Port Kenny to compete for the Blanche Pain Salver and Medal, while helping her celebrate her 90th birthday.

In Far West football Blues earned an upset win against Thevenard while Koonibba were too good against Western United.
