The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for Lower Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and parts of West Coast and Yorke Peninsula districts this morning.
A vigorous cold front will move across the west coast of Eyre Peninsula late this morning and then over remaining southern districts this afternoon and evening.
Damaging winds averaging 50-65 km/h, with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are forecast to develop in the warning area during the next several hours.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop with the front and are also likely to produce damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h.
Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Elliston, Streaky Bay, Cummins, Stenhouse Bay and Cape Borda.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should move vehicles under cover or away from trees; secure or put away loose items around your property; stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
