Family and friends gathered at the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel last month to help Doreen Denton celebrate her 90th birthday.
Mrs Denton, along with her husband Ralph, five children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as other family members and friends, enjoyed lunch to mark the occasion.
Many travelled long distances to attend the celebration.
Doreen’s son Geoff Denton started the day off by welcoming everybody and proceeded to say, “I was pretty young when I first met mum, so I don’t know much about her until 1961!”
The group then heard about Mrs Denton’s life growing up and all the different organisations she has been involved with over the years in Smoky Bay and Ceduna.
These organisations include St Johns Ambulance, Meals on Wheels, the Smoky Bay Progress Association and CWA, among others.
Mrs Denton is the longest living member of the Hunt family.
Ceduna CWA branch president Shirley Mahar spoke on behalf of the association and presented Mrs Denton with a lovely potted plant.
Great-grandchild Chloe Sale sang ‘Rainbow’ by Kesha during the afternoon.
The cake, made by Joy Sleep, was cut and enjoyed by everybody in attendance for the celebration.
A lovely day was had by all, with family and friends able to catch up and Mrs Denton thanked everybody for helping her to celebrate the milestone.
