Ceduna District Health Services director Andrew Lane is pleased with the results of the meningococcal immunisation clinic hosted at Ceduna over the past fortnight.
Free vaccinations were available, with 2258 people taking up the opportunity to be immunised against the w-strain of the disease.
Mr Lane praised the community response to the clinic, which came about following three local cases.
“From our point of view it was a great success, there was a great turnout and no one had to wait too long, so we are really pleased.
“We are closer to our target of giving a vaccination to every member of the community and it could only happen with a good turn-up and we’re happy with how people have responded.”
The vaccination clinics are continuing this week and Mr Lane said there would be provisions for those who missed out, with details to be released soon.
“We'll have mechanism in place for people who missed out to get a vaccination within the next month.”
