It is a pleasure to welcome new councillor Candice Lea to our Wudinna District Council team.

Following the close of nominations for the vacancy created on the resignation of former councillor Jill Rushmer, Ms Lea successfully nominated for the role and has been appointed through the State Electoral Commission.

Ms Lea moved to Wudinna in 2013 and soon became involved with our communities.

Ms Lea enjoys attending and assisting in community events, she was president and founding member of the Granite Country Girls Country Women’s Association.

She is married to local Dr Scott Lewis and has two daughters, Aspen, 8, who attends the Wudinna Area School and Camille, 2.

Ms Lea has a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences and Master of Public Health and is currently an epidemiologist with Country SA PHN (Primary Health Network).

She believes that open communication and honesty are essential to help shape and contribute to the future of our local community.

November will be Ms Lea’s first meeting and we look forward to the strengths that she will add to representation for our district council area.

On the topic of new team members, Craig Midgley has also been the successful applicant for the council’s economic develompent officer position and will start duties in early December.

Council CEIP Community Development Committee

Our November council meeting will see the council looking at responses to a call for public submissions on the Council Central Eyre Iron Project Community Development Committee.

The next stage will be to move from a draft document to final and then the forming of a committee, which will have representation from community, council and Iron Road.

The aim of the group is to provide a forum for communication and discussion between the council, local community and Iron Road in relation to the CEIP, facilitate consultation, provide reports and feedback received from community consultation.

You can view the documents on the notice board on the Wudinna District Council website www.wudinna.sa.gov.au.
