In the saddle for the new racing season

The new West Coast racing season is almost at the starting gate, with the action starting soon.

After two Ceduna meets come races at Lock, Port Lincoln, Penong, Streaky Bay and Kimba for the Bill Holland Series.

The glitz and glamour begins with the Ceduna Christmas Races on Saturday, December 2, before the new year opens with a bang at the Ceduna Cup on Saturday, January 6.

The Lock Cup takes place on Sunday, February 11, followed by the Port Lincoln Cup on Friday, March 2.

The Penong Cup is on Saturday, March 10, with the Streaky Bay leg of the tour on Saturday, March 17, before finishing with the Kimba Cup, hosted at Port Lincoln, on Sunday, March 25.

Ceduna Racing Club president Bruce Zippel is excited for the new season.

“We are busy preparing for the new season but are very excited,” he said.

“There are a few new things this season, such as the club offering float rebates to bring their horses to Ceduna to attract greater interest.

“We will also have a new product among the marquees and a TAB on-site truck will be trialled after it proved popular at the Streaky Bay races this year.”
