Flinders Ports have announced the Port of Thevenard could open by late next week if weather conditions permit as works come to a close.
The announcement comes as Flinders Ports advised that structural and demolitions works at the port had been completed.
Remedial works are expected to be completed in the next week as well as site demobilising.
Detailed engineering works will be done at the site to review the works done and to confirm when ship loading operations can begin again at the port.
Flinders Ports anticipates that depending on weather conditions and any unforeseen events, operations should recommence by late next week, two weeks ahead of the previous timeframe of early October.
Flinders Port Holdings chief executive officer Vincent Tremaine said the company was excited that the project was coming to a close.
“Our team and project partners have been working diligently to implement this solution, and we are glad that the ship loading operations will be up and running again soon,” he said.
