Paving the way for better roads in district

Council have budgeted for the construction of 31.4 kilometres of road this financial year, with the bitumising of a 16.5 kilometre stretch of Mount Wedge Road included.

We have been notified of the success of our grant funding application under the Special Local Roads Program for the Mt Wedge Rd project and are currently awaiting a letter from Minister Brock officially confirming this. It is anticipated that we will receive $1.325 million in grant funding and this will be complimented by a contribution of $663,881 from the Council.

Base works have commenced and it is hoped that 10kms will be completed prior to the end of the calendar year. Other roads scheduled for works include sections of Yardea Rd, Bartley Rd, McKenna Rd, Payne Rd and Mildren Rd.

Works on Mt Damper Road budgeted for in 2016/17 are still in progress due to the breakdown of a major item of construction machinery. We appreciate the patience of local residents during this time.

Waste Management Review feedback

We have recently undertaken a review of our Waste Management Service with proposed changes to be made to our kerbside collection and refuse site operations.

All ratepayers have been mailed an information fact sheet detailing the changes; this has been followed by a mail out survey for your feedback. The survey can also be accessed online via our website or Facebook page and will remain open until Friday, October 20. We have already received some responses with positive feedback provided.

Proposed Civic Centre concept plans

Council now have preliminary concept plans ready for consultations and discussion with stakeholders and community members. We are happy to present to interested groups and receive feedback in preparation for a grant funding application.
