Streaky Bay residents have been given an up close and personal look at a great white shark lurking around the town this week.

The shark attracted a crowd at the jetty on Wednesday afternoon and numerous videos were posted to social media.

The shark made its return to the jetty area on Thursday and Streaky Bay mayor Travis Barber said it had been around for a few days.

“You do see sharks sometimes at this time of year, this one was noticeable because of how close it came to the shore,” he said.

“Sharks are around every now and then, but normally they are outside the bay and not so much inside the bay and up to the jetty.

“This one has been in front of the caravan park and seems to have been around for a few days.”

While Mr Barber said it was not a big shark, people are advised to take caution on the jetty and in the water.
