What a fantastic effort from such a small group to organise the ‘Just One Look’ Lions campaign to come to Wudinna for people across the region to have free skin cancer screenings.
Thanks to Marlene Boylan for taking all the bookings – I understand the response was fantastic, with some 130 bookings received.
The project is completely run by volunteers from our local club and their helpers at this end and volunteer Lions who are van drivers, scanners and recorders.
Following the check, if needed, people are advised to follow up with their doctor.
Warramboo celebrates 100 years from July 14 to 16 and with just a few weeks to go Beth Sampson advises the Warramboo Centenary Celebration preparations are well underway.
Warramboo community members have a great weekend in store for the many family, visitors and friends who will be returning for celebrations, which will begin on Friday, July 14 with a montage of old movies including deb balls, school concerts, the circus and more that have been digitally restored to be projected onto a big screen.
Saturday includes registration, lifting of the time capsule, the official opening with centenary cake cutting, old and new machinery displays, and netball and football matches. Lunches and teas will be available at the club.
Sunday includes a community breakfast, Ecumenical Service, morning tea, fashion parade and barbecue lunch.
Beth and the organising group invite all to go back to Warramboo for a great weekend of celebrating the Warramboo centenary.
This month is another full day for councillors and staff as we move through a machinery meeting, preliminary budget meeting and then into our regular monthly meeting.
Our preliminary budget meeting will focus on the draft budget for 2017/18 along with the draft annual business plan and rate modelling.
Following the meeting the 2017/18 draft business plan will be available for community consultation, details will be advertised in local media and on the council’s website with an invitation for written submissions and opportunity for public question time.
