The Far West Football League’s White Ribbon Round last weekend achieved its aim in raising awareness to stop violence against women, organiser Keturah Coleman said.
Matches between Koonibba and Ceduna, and Western United and Thevenard featured a white ball and players wearing white armbands.
Ms Coleman from the Family Violence Legal Service said support for the cause at the Far West Aboriginal Sporting Complex on Saturday was great to see.
“It was brilliant at the Koonibba v Ceduna match with a very good turnout and it was great to see every grade take part and play with passion,” she said.
“We achieved our aim and we hope to make it bigger in the future.”
As part of White Ribbon Round, White Ribbon ambassador Ivan Phillips came to Ceduna to speak to all four clubs.
“When Ivan spoke it was very powerful,” Ms Coleman said.
“I was at Koonibba and afterwards a lot of the guys got up and embraced Ivan for opening up about his story.”
