Stargazing opportunity to capture the spectacular night sky

A recent ABC television program on stargazing prompted a rush of photographers to set their cameras to the night sky in order to catch the best shots.

During the Stargazing program professor Brian Cox mentioned Australia was one of the best stargazing locations on the planet - its clear skies perfect for capturing the bright lights above.

Interested West Coast photographers have been busy getting their snaps of the region’s picturesque landscapes and adding the stunning mix of light and colour from the night sky.

Local photographer Andrew Brooks said this was the best time to capture a stunning shot, just as he had, leaving the camera running for 30 minutes of exposure.

“This is the best time of year, when you can get a crystal clear winter’s night,” he said.

“The best thing to do is to get away from artificial light, so get away from towns.

“If you are a photographer interested in stars, and I have seen some out there, a clear night is the way to go.”
