THE Streaky Bay Women’s Bowling Club has ended another fantastic season of action.

There were a number of events contested in the latter weeks of the season, including the freeman pairs which saw 16 bowlers compete to see who would go on to represent Streaky Bay at the region 5 competition in Port Lincoln.

Four games of 10 ends in a 2x2x2x2 format was played in great conditions with Pam Edmunds and Janine Brown the winning pair.

Josie Williams and Lisa McEvoy finished as runners-up.

Edmunds and Brown went on to represent Streaky Bay in the competition at Port Lincoln last month, where four games of 10 ends were played.

Pairs from affiliated clubs at Kirton Point, Port Lincoln, Tumby Bay, Cummins, Ceduna, Streaky Bay, Wudinna, Cleve, Kimba, Port Neil and Cowell took part in the competition.

The Streaky pair were clear winners, being the only team to win all four games to bring home the shield to Streaky Bay for just the fourth time in 52 years.

Closing day was held earlier this month which involved a mixed pairs competition.

The weather was perfect and led to some great bowls being played, followed by plenty of laughs.

Equal winners on the day with 54 points were the team of Janet Williams and Sue Rumbelow, plus the Sue Montgomerie and Geoff Francis pairing.

The Streaky Bay Women’s Bowling Club enjoyed yet another very successful year in gaining another three new bowlers, having success on the green and fun off it.
