THE Ceduna Dirt Circuit Club recently hosted its second race meeting for 2017, with Dale Thiele emerging victorious.
It was a spectacular evening for the club as it now hosts Friday night races.
Thiele won the division one race with a perfect score of 24 points and was followed by Jason Irvine on 20 points and Reg Davis with 16.
The division two event proved a closer affair as Kym Thiele crossed the line on 18 points, with Tyson Carr following on 16 and Kyle Penna on 15 points.
In division three, Travis Stott claimed top spot on the podium with 20 points, with Murray Watkinson and Des Coote following on 16 points.
The club decided to race on a Friday for the first time in 2017 on a trial basis.
When it began more than 20 years ago, the racing took place on a Sunday afternoon, without a shed for spectators to shelter from the weather and only a small shed for the canteen.
After lights were installed a decade ago the night races started with a blend of Sunday afternoons and Saturday nights at the track.
The committee said so far the Friday night trial had been successful with drivers, volunteers and spectators, even if there was additional pressure on the drivers to get their cars to the track after work and to get the track ready.
The next race meeting is on Saturday, May 6, before the winter break with a return to racing on Sunday, August 13.
