2017 Mid West Netball Association season preview

Welcome to the 2017 Mid West netball season. All clubs have been training in preparation of their first game. The association wishes everyone all the best for the season ahead and hopes it is smooth sailing and enjoyable.

This year looks to be another event-filled season. I would like to thank the 2017 executives, who consist of Lisa Priest as secretary, Sally Trezona as vice president, Wenora Dolphin as treasurer, Tannille Fleming as assistant secretary, Kate Baker as regional coordinator, and Rhianna Foster as umpires coordinator.

The Eyre Peninsula senior team recently played in Jamestown in a round robin carnival against Tango and Northern Areas. Congratulations on the Eyre team reaching the grand final, but unfortunately being defeated.

The Eyre Academy has selected training squads for 2017. Congratulations to Jessica Sampson for making the team. The regional selections are different this year with no age groups like in the past. Teams will be picked on merit. We wish Jessica all the best.

Mid West’s own Hannah Petty continues to impress SA with her netball skills. Hannah is listed in the Thunderbirds team and also in the squad for the Australian under 21 team to play in Botswana in July. Hannah has been suffering some injuries of late and we wish her all the best in her recovery and look forward to seeing her take the court for the Thunderbirds soon.

Finally, I would like to thank all the people that have volunteered their time to take on a role within their club. It is these tireless jobs that go unnoticed but are crucial in ensuring we have a competition each week. I hope members in your clubs get behind these people and support them.

Good luck everyone for an enjoyable 2017 season.
