KOONIBBA have avoided another upset loss to the Blues, holding on for a 15 point win at the Aboriginal Sporting Complex on Saturday.
The Roosters wanted to rebound after their last match against the Blues on July 14, which saw them lose by one goal.
They started with a strong first quarter performance with five goals, but the Blues answered back with three goals of their own.
Then the Blues went on the offensive, kicking seven goals to three in the second quarter to lead by 11 points at half time, and suddenly the chance of another upset loss for Koonibba seemed more likely.
But the Roosters were able to right the ship following the half time break, kicking seven goals to one to take back the game and to lead by 28 points going into the final quarter.
The Blues fought valiantly to five goals in the final quarter, but the Roosters’ strong third quarter had done its job, with Koonibba adding another four goals on top of this.
Koonibba holding on to win 19.15.129 to the Blues 16.8.114.
Wayne Miller was once again a stand out for Koonibba on the field, with Royden Miller and Barry Coleman also contributing to their win.
David Wright and Sam Tarkas stood out for the Blues, utilising most of their possessions.
Koonibba are aiming for a third straight premiership, dropping only two games this season they are going to go into the finals as the favourites to win the 2012 FWFL Premiership.
The Blues have had a strong finish to the season, winning three of their last four games and are shaping up to be a potential dark horse going into the finals.
