Results of Far West Netball Association matches played at Thevenard and Ceduna Sports Club on Saturday.

A Grade: Koonibba lost to Westies 40-58

With the warm conditions, Westies jumped Koonibba at the first whistle. Accurate shooting from Westies saw them up by 3 goals at the first break. Koonibba made a change in their defence to deter Westies goalies, but they were steady in their shooting, and out scored Koonibba by 5 goals. Scores at half time, Koonibba 22 to Westies 30. Both teams made changes to accommodate the heat, but Westies settled more quickly than Koonibba and out scored Koonibba by 3. End of third quarter score, Koonibba 31 to Westies 42. Koonibba made more changes at the last break, but Westies was the more settled side. Westies had a comfortable win.

Best players: Koonibba; Roma Wombat, Westies: Tracey Chandler.

Thevenard defeated Ceduna Blues United 50-45

The game started at a furious pace with Thevenard doubling the score to be six up at the break. Ceduna made a change with Chloe Carr into GS, this had immediate effect. The game had numerous passages where either team could have taken hold. As one team dominated for a few minutes, the opposition took hold only to be reversed again. This happened throughout the game. Thevenard hung on to win by 5 goals. A spectacular game to watch.

Best players: Thevenard; Sarah Hodge, Ceduna Blues; Sarah Evans.

B Grade: Koonibba lost to Westies 25-59

Westies a more settled side had a comfortable win over Koonibba. The game was played hard and fast, but Westies goalies more accurate in their shots. Any loose balls Westies made Koonibba pay. Koonibba’s defence tried hard all game to keep Koonibba in the game, but Westies was a more settled side. The players all played well, within the spirit of the game.

Best players: Koonibba; Lyticia Weetra, Westies; Nyree Trowbridge.

Thevenard lost to Ceduna Blues United 33-64

A very fast game saw Ceduna Blues take a big lead in the first quarter. Thevenard tried hard and had many changes to try and stop them. Blues were far too good with experience at both ends of the court. They were convincing winners at the end.

Best players: Thevenard; Trudi Virgo, Ceduna Blues; Melissa Miller.

C Grade: Koonibba defeated Westies 16-44

Best players: Koonibba; Nicole Coleman, Westies; Kelly Sleep.

Thevenard lost to Ceduna Blues United 37-46

This was Thevenard’s first game for the season and they took a while to settle. In the third quarter Blues outscored Thevenard. A nice freindly game to watch and great netball skills displayed C grade will be an A grade to watch this season.

Best players: Thevenard; Rikki Stott, Ceduna Blues; Holly Cushion.

D Grade: Ceduna Blues United 2 defeated Westies 39-12

The first quarter was a great start to Ceduna Blues with the defenders intercepting the ball off Westies really well and the goalies giving it their best and with return leaving the Ceduna Blues 12-1 at end of quarter time, Westies stayed strong throughout using their height advantage to get some intercepts back their way and some goals back thorough but Ceduna Blues Karissa Phin and Rikki Pedersen in defence proved their strength and played really well together to send it back their way, The last half had some changes for both teams but Ceduna Blues Amber and Alicia kept up the pace for the team and came out with a great win.

Best players: Ceduna Blues United; Tanya Darke, Westies; Pamela Torbett.

Thevenard lost to Ceduna Blues United 1 18-65

The score in this game does not reflect the game. Blues played a great game with Thevenard trying new players and positions. Both teams showed great promise and cant wait for the next game.

Best players: Ceduna Blues 1; Kelly Barns, Thevenard; Colleen Nicholls.

Junior A: Koonibba defeated Westies 46-28

Best players: Koonibba; Kiarni Coleman, Westies; Nikki Sleep.

Thevenard defeated Ceduna Blues United 54-41

A great game with Thevenard using many interchanges.

Best players: Thevenard; Rochelle Haseldine, Ceduna Blues; Tori Ronan.

Junior B: Koonibba defeated Westies 47-10

Best players: Koonibba; Sonerae Bilney, Westies; Chloe Sleep.

Thevenard 1 drew with Thevenard 2 16-16

Beautifully played game by all player. Evenly contested down the court. This game was very close and exciting to watch. Good ball skills were shown throughout the game. Well done girls.

Ceduna Blues United 2 defeated Ceduna Blues United 1 36-22

Best players: Ceduna Blues 2; Tekura Irvine, Ceduna Blues 1; Rhiane Miller.

Mid West Netball Association

Results of Mid West Netball Association matches played at Wirrulla, Wudinna and Warramboo.

West Coast Hawks v Wirrulla

A Grade: West Coast Hawks defeated Wirrulla 44-24

Hawks got away to a flying start and lead by three goals at the first interchange. Play was pretty even until the third quarter, Hawks increasing their lead steadily at each quarter. Hawks eventually ran away in the final term winning by 20.

Incentive award: Caitlin Parker.

B Grade: West Coast Hawks defeated Wirrulla 83-19

The game started quickly with even play. Hawks warmed up and took control with excellent passing into the goal ring with very accurate shooting. Hawks lead all the way with a very convincing win.

Wudinna v Western Districts

A Grade: Wudinna defeated Western Districts 34-25

No report available, however it was a tough fast game with both teams applying a lot of pressure. Wudinna led all game and won by 9, 34-25. Best players for Wudinna were Karen Petty and Alice Little.

B Grade: Wudinna defeated Western Districts 55-27

A great game to watch with the score no indication of what an even battle it was. Wudinna worked well as a team, coming out in front at the end of each quarter. Districts fought the whole match, never giving up. Wudinna won 55-27. The best players for Wudinna were Hannah Boylan and Karen Watson.

C Grade: Wudinna defeated Western Districts 55-17

Wudinna dominated in the first quarter, with accurate shooting they led 15-3 at quarter time. Districts started to settle in their goal circle in the second quarter, but defence was tight at both ends. Districts lost a player to injury and Wudinna capitalised with a few quick goals. They led 29-10 at half time. Both teams made positional changes at half time, but Wudinna kept playing strongly and won 55-17.

D Grade: Wudinna defeated Western Districts 33-24

Both teams got off to a good start, with scores even throughout the quarter. Good shooting by both teams saw a one goal margin at quarter time, Wudinna leading 9-8. Districts defence was strong in the second quarter but good work by Wudinna's goalies saw them extend their lead to 19-16 at half time. Districts continued to provide strong defence but couldn't capitalise as Wudinna held them to one goal in the third term, and extended their lead to 25-17 at three quarter time. There were turnovers early in the last quarter. Districts got within 6 goals but Wudinna's goalies worked well together and won 33-24.

15 and Under: Wudinna defeated Western Districts 39-31

No report available, Wudinna led all game but Districts closed the gap by 4 in the last quarter. Wudinna won 39-31.

13 and Under: Wudinna defeated Western Districts 72-9

Wudinna got of to a confident start playing clean netball. Western Districts settled towards the end of the quarter to peg back a couple. Wudinna led 22-3 at quarter time. Districts picked up for the first five minutes of the second quarter taking Wudinna by surprise. Nice clean play by both teams with some great skills on display. Wudinna settled in the end to keep building on their lead, 39-6 at half time. Accurate shooting by Wudinna goalies saw them continue to increase their lead. Plenty of good sportsmanship was shown by both teams with plenty of positive talk. Wudinna led 56-8 at three quarter time. Wudinna continued on to win convincingly. Great spirit and skills were on display from both teams. Wudinna won 72-9.

Central Eyre v Elliston

A Grade: Central Eyre lost to Elliston 45-55

Play started out steady and consistent with both teams settling early. Tight defense at both ends made the goalies work hard to score. Both teams moved the ball around the court well however Elliston managed to break away to lead by seven at the quarter break.

Central Eyre made a change in the goal ring which didn’t upset the play. Accurate passes into the ring paid off to see Central Eyre start pegging back. Elliston kept the pressure on all the way down the court to see Centrals trailing by six at half time.

The start of the third quarter saw both teams make changes however this did not affect the steady play. Elliston kept trying to pull away but with some good intercepts from the Centrals girls they only managed to out score them by one at the final break to see Elliston leading by seven.

Elliston came out firing in the final quarter and started to extend their lead. Centrals worked hard to turn the ball over but could not capitalize in the goal ring. Both teams played good clean netball that all the spectators enjoyed.

Final score Elliston 55. Centrals 45. Best on court – Maria Bruce

B grade: Central Eyre lost to Elliston 26-39

C Grade: Central Eyre defeated Elliston 51-27

Centrals settled early and quickly scored the first five goals making Elliston play catch up Netball. The home team had a few good turnovers and managed to capitalize. Elliston started to settle half way into the quarter but trailed by nine at the first break.

Centrals came out strong in the second quarter with great defensive work down the court. Elliston’s defense had to work hard however they couldn’t stop Centrals from dominating and trailed by 17 at half time.

The third quarter seen Elliston start to peg back with good turnovers and accurate shooting. Centrals had to work hard to keep Elliston at bay and lead by 15 at the final break.

The final quarter saw play become unsettled, however Centrals continued to dominate and pull away from Elliston.

Best on court – Nat Phillips

D Grade: Central Eyre lost to Elliston 30-33

Both teams started out settled and play flowed nicely down the court. Defenses applied the pressure and the goalies had to work hard. Quarter time saw Elliston leading by 3.

Both teams made changes in the second quarter, however the play was settled. Good intercepts down the court made scoring difficult. Goalies and defenses had to work overtime as it went goal for goal.

Elliston lead by one at half time.

The third quarter was similar to the second with both sides struggling to take the lead. Mother and daughter combinations made for some very entertaining netball. Elliston managed to break away with some strong interceptions to lead by 7.

Elliston managed to keep their momentum forcing Centrals to work hard to catch up. Elliston held onto their lead to win by 3.

A credit must go to the young girls who filled in and gave their all. Well done girls. Best on court – Mandy Oliver.

13 and under: Central Eyre lost to Elliston 2-23
