Streaky Bay women’s bowls
Helen Schaedel kept a cool head and solid play to take out the Streaky Bay Women’s Bowls Championship from Betty Kammerman last Thursday morning.
The competition elimination rounds were played on Wednesday in tricky wind conditions.
Sixteen players competed and several games hung in the balance until the final bowl.
Spectators were enthralled on both days.
Helen came from behind in her first round with Atholy Holland and again against Josie Williams in the third round to clinch the game and go on to the final against Betty Kammerman which was a nail biter.
Top quality bowling saw the two competitors tied at 22 all then 23 all then 23 24 with Betty holding but tipped her bowl and a measure in Helen's favour sealed the game.
