Local cricketers go well in cup

14 Jan, 2010 04:00 AM
Young cricketers from the Eyre Peninsula participated in the BankSA Under 14 Country Cup in Adelaide from January 4 to 7.

Run by the South Australian Cricket Association, the Country Cup can be the first step to playing at a higher level and is a good way for players and parents to connect with Grade clubs.

One-day matches are played at cricket grounds across the metropolitan area.

This is the third season of SACA’s grade club and country team alignment, under which all country associations are linked with one of 12 grade clubs in Adelaide.

Eyre Peninsula won their last game to make it three out of four wins for the carnival and with such an even competition they finished fourth overall – a great effort with Jack Haarsma and Jay Green from Cummins making the cup team of the week.

Toby Kelly had the best bowling performance for the tournament, with 6/8 against Barrier, including a hat-trick.
