Work starts at supermarket site

25 Jun, 2009 04:00 AM
Two houses on East Terrace were demolished this week to make way for a new Foodland supermarket in Ceduna.

Plans for the new building and car park will go to the District Council of Ceduna after representations are received from nearby residents, landholders and businesses.

The owner, Geoff Boettcher, plans to build a supermarket on the current Foodland car park site on Poynton Street and construct a car park on East Terrace.

Written submissions must be made by Wednesday and then council will consider these along with the developer’s plans.

Manager environmental services Chris Holland did not release the plans to the media, saying he spoke to Mr Boettcher and he did not wish to make a “splash” until the supermarket was approved.

No plans have been submitted for the future of the current supermarket site.
