Are you aged between 12 and 25?
Do you want to be a representative for young people in Ceduna?
If yes, why don’t you register your interest in the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).
YAC is a great way for youth to have their say and, as part of a team, influence change within their community.
It is for people who are interested in team-work, being creative, and getting things happening in their community – whether it be youth activities / entertainment or ongoing changes in Ceduna – basically having youth representatives to work with the District Council of Ceduna and be a voice for the young people of Ceduna.
Each YAC differs depending on its location and the demographics and social issues of its region.
Their priority and the resources allocated to them also differ.
Youth advisory committes are a tool to assist local councils to meet their community engagement obligations as they relate to young people.
Some YACs operate as formal sub-committees of council, others use informal structures or operate as interest groups that form and disband as required.
The Office for Youth provides state co-ordination of the Youth Advisory Committee program within South Australia.
Money is available via the District Council of Ceduna and the Office for Youth to assist in the running of YAC and making its ideas become reality.
Ceduna Council, local service providers and young people will work together to make this happen.
