Donations and riders are being sought for the second West Coast Toy Run next Sunday.
It will start at 9am on Sunday, November 29 at the Ceduna Foodland car park and travel through Wirrulla, Poochera, Minnipa and Wudinna on the Eyre Highway before going to Port Kenny and ending at Streaky Bay at about 2pm.
Gifts will be distributed to needy local families by the staff at Centacare in Wudinna.
“I think it’s wonderful that they’re doing it,” Centacare counsellor Merrill Lymn said.
“…Last year because it was drought conditions we contacted communities like Poochera, Wudinna and Woomera. This year we’re going to put them in with Christmas hampers we’re going to give away. We’re asking different people in the community to give.”
Organiser Paul “Bomber” Clifford, a police officer in Ceduna, said some changes had been made from last year to improve attendance, such as going on Sunday instead of Saturday, and he is hoping for good weather.
“It’ll go really well,” Mr Clifford said.
Donations, which can also include Christmas food like puddings, can be made at Jim’s IGA in Thevenard, the Ceduna Pharmacy, Stewart’s Roadhouse in Streaky Bay or along the route.
